The stars were out again and this time it’s for the Critics Choice Awards 2023. We are excited to share with you some of the looks that made an impression. Color, style expert and author B.P. Greycastle is back and he tells us his winners, hits and misses and the losers of the night. Greycastle gives his insight from head to toe – hairstyle down to footwear. He uses his Name Colorology philosophy in determining if these actresses are wearing the right colors attuned to any of their 7 energy centers based on their names. Now, if you have been reading our From Head To Toe Fashion Critique blog, you would have noticed Greycastle talking about these 7 energy centers, and you would probably be wondering what is he talking about… well, we strongly suggest you click here to know more about the 7 energy centers and the 7 Image Types. • Spiritual – Youthful, Wholesome, Cheerful, Creative
  •  Mental – Intellectual, Smartly Elegant
  •  Vocal – Harmonious, Talkative, Stylishly Organized

🫣 the hits and misses

🚮 it deserves to go to the trash

Here we go!

KERRY WASHINGTON

Greycastle says Kerry looks absolutely beautiful in this gown.  She is Greycastle’s number choice for best dressed in this year’s Critics Choice Awards.

The gown fits her body perfectly.  The blue embellishments are one of her sexy center colors.  The only thing Greycastle would have changed about this look is her earrings.  He would have added blue gemstones earrings, ring and a matching bracelet to harmonize with the gown’s blue accents. Her hair is ok but if it were up in a bun, it would have made her neck look longer and her overall silhouette longer. That would have made this look perfect.

🏆 The best dressed! 🫣 Add jewelry and hair should be in a bun.

STEPHANIE HSU

Stephanie got her color right!  This orange tangerine chiffon gown is perfect because orange is her emotional center color which makes her look demure, feminine and romantic.  The softness of the chiffon added to her delicate, charming look.

“Her necklace doesn’t really go well with the dress and we would have her hair put up in a romantic bun” says Greycastle.  But again, she got her color right.  Her choice of color really made her stand out from the rest.

🏆 Tangerine chiffon 🫣 More romantic hairstyle

BRITT LOWER

“Severance” actor Britt Lower opted for a pantsuit and cape looking absolutely great wearing her intellectual and power center colors, and looking so chic such a complete reversal from the bad outfit she wore to the Golden Globes. “She is one of my absolute winners! So beautiful!” says Greycastle. “Her hair is great and with those beautiful teeth and perfect lipstick, I can say without a doubt this girl is a “white hot star” or maybe even more “out of this universe hot!” The only thing else I would have considered is white fingernails to match.”

🏆 We love the pantsuit, cape and pearls 🫣 White nail polish would have kept the look clean

KELSEY ASBILLE

Kelsey in a pleated dress and matching neck scarf is wearing her spiritual center color coming across as being very spiritually secretive, mysterious & serious. She puts it all together with her jet-black hair and dark lipstick. Greycastle says the only thing that could make her look more mysterious would be her holding a black leash with a black wolf on the end of it or even two wolves ,and also her nail polish should be black and adding a really nice black round bracelet with two tassels hanging down… because if we’re gonna do black, let’s do it all the way black!

She looks stunning and for any director out there looking to direct a spiritually, secretive and mysterious Gothic movie… she’s your lady!

🏆 That Gothic look! 🫣 Black nail polish completes her look

ANYA TAYLOR JOY

B.P. Greycastle says the flesh spectrum is a great color for Anya because that is her double mental and control center colors. It is also her spiritual center color which is why he believes this look is awesome. But according to Greycastle, it would be more spectacular if the gown is gradated to a darker color brown waist down.  He’s also not a fan of the sheer look as it shows her underpants. Also her jewelry should be in a matching gemstone color.

Apart from that, Anya’s look is stunning.  Her hair color and make-up harmonizes with the whole look she is exuding.   In our Golden Globes From Head to Toe Fashion Critique, we said that we would like to see her in a different hair color and hair put up in a bun, and here she has done that at the Critics Choice Awards, and her hair color and style looks great!

🏆 Great choice of color! 🫣 Mismatched jewelry 🚮 We don’t really need to see her underpants.

AUBREY PLAZA

This black gown on Aubrey is beautiful and we like how it fits her really well.  There are some minor adjustments if it were up to Greycastle.  First off, the dégradé accents – “I would eliminate the yellow and red dégradé accents with a more yellow satin material. The satin would have brought our her hair a little more.”

Speaking of hair, Greycastle said that it should have been more lustrous.  Also, her makeup is a bit cakey. Even her brows are uneven.  Black jewelry would have complimented the look better.

🏆 The fit and black color is good. 🫣 Blend the makeup

SADIE SINK

Sadie Sink is a double yellow spiritual center person and that golden yellow in the bandeau and her hair really makes her look great. We love Sadie’s light curls and she wore light makeup, keeping it clean and simple.  We would have preferred a deeper shade though.

As for the gown, Greycastle would like to focus on the bandeau design. He says the golden color in the bandeau matches her hair color. And if she would have used that gold color in some jewelries that matched the bandeau it would have brought out the outfit a little more.

🫣 Add some of the gold in the bandeau and matching jewelry.

AMANDA SEYFRIED

The yellow spectrum is her power center color and bronze is a darker shade in the yellow spectrum.  The flow of the skirt and matching gold strappy heels are fine. Greycastle thinks the outfit would have looked better if the bottom skirt is not tied to the knot and brought down to a regular straight across waistline.

As for the jewelry, a princess length or v-neck necklace with bronze gem stones would have been more appropriate for the look that she was going for.  But her blonde hair in an updo with some framing bangs and natural look makeup were all on point.

The color of the gown is really nice and harmonizes with Amanda.  Greycastle would love to do another gown design in this color for her.

🏆 The color is fantastic! 🫣 That knot?

ANGELA BASSETT

Black is Angela’s primary spiritual center and glamorous sexual center color.  It is also her secondary mental center color.  That is why, this outfit works for her.

Greycastle notices the bold gold necklace which he likes.  Since the yellow spectrum is her spiritual/friendly center color that is why she has this kind, friendly vibe.

The only thing that Greycastle finds out of place is her diamond earrings and ring do not match her necklace.

But overall, she did well with this red carpet look.

🏆 The black gown 🫣 Mismatched jewelry

QUINTA BRUNSON

The design looks great on her. It happens to be her glamorous sexy center color. The only thing that B.P. Greycastle doesn’t like is the grey body material. It should be more shimmering and shiny, and she should have added a glamorous necklace and coordinated the rings with the necklace.

Her hairstyle is fine and the fit of the gown is ok.

Please click to enlarge photos.

🏆 The outfit design is very unique. 🫣 Missing glamorous necklace.

MICHELLE YEOH

Michelle Yeoh wears another winner at the Critics Choice.  She looks very fine again from head to toe except for 2 things that would enhance her look:  A beautiful black onyx necklace would match her hair, gown, watch and shoes which would add a more consistent look from head to toe.

Please click to enlarge photos.

🏆 Very well-made look 🫣 Needs a necklace to complete the look.

MELANIE LYNSKEY

Hair and makeup are fine. Maybe just a lighter makeup in the eye area.  Her jewelry is not coordinated.  The lemon yellow color of the gown does not harmonize with her.  Greycastle says that she should have worn a light bright yellow in a chiffon type material, and she should coordinated it with some bright light yellow jewelry.

Yellow is attuned to 5 of her 7 centers.  So by wearing the bright light yellow outfit we suggest, she would have been a knockout in multiple image ways.

Please click to enlarge photos.

🫣 Use light bright yellow color instead

KERRY CONDON

Greycastle doesn’t particularly like this look and color.  He wants to do an overhaul look for her.  He would like her hair up in a bun.  He would have liked her to be in a very light blue glamorous material with matching light blue gemstone jewelry, which happens to be her glamorous sexual center color.

Please click to enlarge photos.

🚮 Overhaul the look and use light blue instead

VIOLA DAVIS

Viola Davis has done a great job again.  From head to toe she looks great. The color is great and the style is good.  Greycastle says they are the great looking couple of the night.  The only thing Greycastle would have done is use a color coordinated gemstone earring to match the color of her gown.

Please click to enlarge photos.

🏆 Great color and fitting gown 🫣 Use color coordinated gemstones

DAISY EDGAR-JONES

Greycastle says that Daisy Edgar-Jones is a beautiful woman but he doesn’t like this color and outfit on her.   He says she would look absolutely great in a beautiful red gown which is her spiritual center color or a glamorous yellow because she happens to be a double yellow glamorous sexy center person.

🚮 Wrong choice of color and design.

THUSO MBEDU

“The Woman King” star Thuso Mbedu in a gown embellished with gold, silver, and bronze sequins. Greycastle says that “she looks wonderful and she is wearing several of her center colors dramatic/heart, sexual, harmony/vocal, and power/control. She looks great, and having loads of fun doing it! Great colors and design for her. A definite winner!”

Please click to enlarge photos.

🏆 Gown design and color

JENNIFER COOLIDGE

According to Greycastle, Jennifer looks so much better in this gown than what she wore to the Golden Globes and her hair is so much more lustrous here. This is Greycastle’s second-best turnaround awards look.

Way to turn it around in just 3 days Jennifer!

Please click to enlarge photos.

🏆 Gown and her soft shiny hair

MADELYN CLINE

Madelyn Cline looks stunning! Look at that gorgeous hair. It brings back the images of the old golden years of Hollywood – so luminous and great make-up and lipstick… “Wow”!

The gown is wonderful. The only thing that Greycastle would change is the very upper part of the dress. He would eliminate the feathers there and change it to a black satin material.

And, to top it all off, she is wearing her intellectual center color which also happens to be her double control/regal/power center color, and does she not look regal and refined?

Please click to enlarge photos.

🏆 The old glamorous Hollywood look 🫣 Those feathers

KATE HUDSON

Kate Hudson is in a nice gown but the color is wrong. Greycastle would love to do a shimmering medium light royal blue gown which is her secondary sexy glamorous center color or even a beautiful romantic red – her emotional/romantic center color. What a difference the right color can do!

Please click to enlarge photos.

🫣 Wrong choice of color

CATE BLANCHETT

The material is matte and too casual in both the blouse and skirt. Greycastle would have liked this design to be made in a medium hue red, blue or yellow color; in a satin or other shimmering type material, which would have made all the difference in the world to make her and the style look great.

Please click to enlarge photos.

🚮 Wrong color and too casual material

More red carpet looks so watch out for that!
